2016 Y.E.S. for Arkansas 2.0 9th - 12th Grade Business Plan Competition

Y.E.S. 2.0 is project based, student centered, and student led – teams “own” their business idea and the plan from beginning to end. Competing brings students with different core education and soft skills together with high levels of engagement, motivation, and responsibility for completion and submission of the plan.

Teams can get started with the Y.E.S. 2.0 competition by taking their idea for a new or better product service and then ask these questions, adapted from the Lean Canvas business planning model:

  • What problem are we solving?
  • Who has the problem?
  • Why should we solve this problem?
  • How are we solving the problem?
  • How do we market to people?
  • How do people buy from us?
  • How will we measure success?
  • What are our expenses?
  • How will we make money?

If the teams think the idea is viable and could make money – they’re ready to compete in Y.E.S. 2.0!

For 2016, there will be two divisions in the competition – 9th-10th grade and 11th-12th grade. The competition is online only, and sponsors may submit an “Intent to Compete” now. There is no cost to enter.

Intents to compete are now open, and due by 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016. Business plans are due by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016.

Cash prizes, certificates, and trophies will be awarded to the first- through fourth-place winners for “Best Business Plan” in both divisions.
